Solid Panel Shutters in Essex
Smooth hardwood panels with no louvres. The traditional period shutter, and the deepest dark.

Solid panel shutters are flat hardwood panels without louvres. Closed, they hold back far more light than any louvred style and place a quiet layer between you and the glass on cold nights. Open, they fold neatly into the reveal, much like the original shutters many Georgian and Victorian homes were built with.
They suit you if:
- You want a truly restful bedroom or nursery
- You live in a period home and want a look faithful to its age
- Old single glazing lets the winter in
Consider another style if: you like to adjust light through the day. Solid panels are simply open or closed. A lovely compromise is solid panels on the lower tier with louvres above.
All solid panel shutters are made in solid hardwood (Basswood, Ashwood or Paulownia) in your choice of painted or stained finish and louvre size. Never faux wood or MDF.
